So I'm going to do news articles as well up here. Stuff that is interesting or thought provoking and giving this blog a sense of intelligence.....
Anyways....time for the news:
Sharks that Learn and Teach
So the article above is from the BBC and talks about a recent discovery that Lemon Sharks actually learn and teach other members of their groups. It shows an interesting level of intelligence and social learning that wasn't at first believed could be found in sharks. If you continue to read the article, you discover that the idea of a "feeding frenzy" might actually be a social tool for sharks to teach younger generations what to do in the pecking order.
Kinda of crazy isn't it? I recommend watching the video that shows how the experiment works!
Though....it does make me thing that this could be the start of Deep Blue Sea......
Vertebrates turn to Madonnas
A startling discovery of recent that was once only thought to occur in captivity is vertebrate animals giving virgin births. This discovery is making many re-think evolution in the vertebrate lineage and thinking that virgin births, also known as parthenogenesis, might not be a random dead-end but something that is could be viewed as "uncommon."
Makes you wonder about Virgin births in history could be documented cases of parthenogenesis in higher mammals....dun dun dun...Blasphemy! Blasphe-you! Blasphe-for everyone reading the blog!
Is that A Small Exotic Primate In Your Pants or....oh...it is a Primate?
Yep. Animal Smuggling. Via Hide small Primate in your pants.
What could go wrong?
